Elite Field Race 10:00am
Come watch some of the fastest runners in the Pacific Northwest fly on one of the flattest and fastest 5K courses in Western Washington. This is an Olympic Year, some of these runners are gearing up for the Olympic Track & Field Trials in Eugene this summer. See qualifying standards below.

5K and Fun Run: 10:30am
Point Ruston presents the flattest, fastest and most scenic 5K in Tacoma! Join us for the Ruston Way 5K and Fun Run on Saturday, April 21, 2012 and celebrate the long-awaited grand re-opening of Ruston Way. The race starts and finishes at the corner of the new Grand Avenue and Ruston Way. It runs along Commencement Bay and features stunning views of the Puget Sound, Mt. Rainier, the Cascades and the Olympic Mountains.

Grand Re-Opening Celebration: 9:30am
Join us in celebrating this momentous occasion! The grand re-opening of Ruston Way will showcase the new, broad, pedestrian and traffic friendly road that replaces the historic Ruston Way tunnel, which served as a portal to the town of Ruston and Point Defiance. Following words from local dignitaries and an official ribbon cutting ceremony, the Elite Race will take place at 10:00am. The 5K race and fun run will follow a procession down the new and improved roadway at 10:45am.

Packet Pick-up
You can pick up your race packet on Friday, April 20th from noon to 6:30pm at the Point Ruston Model Home on Stack Hill. 5229 North 49th Street, Ruston, WA 98407. You may also pick up your packet on Race Day starting at 8am.

ELITE Race Criteria
Open Male - 15:59 or less
Open Female - 17:59 or less
Masters Male - 17:59 or less
Masters Female 20:59 or less
*Must have occurred in a qualifying or certified 5k race within the last two calendar years.
*Elite entrants will need to be confirmed by the race director

If you meet the criteria above and want to participate in the ELITE race, email gigharbor@route16runwalk.com. Qualified ELITE runners from out of area may receive overnight accommodations.
